Back to School

Ok, I underestimated the time it takes to adjust to being back in school. Things have been a bit hectic . . .but not crazy!

This is our third week back and both Jessica and Rachel are enjoying school! Jessica has Mrs. Macken for 2nd grade and Rachel has Mrs. Laughman in Kindergarten. Of course, I get the typical kid response when I ask what they did in school today! The answer is usually "I dunno" or "nothing". Rachel tells us that school is all work!! But, when I ask what they ate for lunch or who they played with at recess, I get to hear their enthusiasm. So far, both girls have come home with stars and stickers on their work papers!

Marlee and Gee Gee are enjoying a nice quiet house without the big kids (with the exception of bad dog Rocky!). Marlee is quite the squealer now! She loves screaming at the top of her lungs. It's sooo funny. She's able to sit on her own to play with her toys but thankfully she is not crawling yet. Yesterday, Gee Gee checked on her during her naptime and found her sitting up in her crib. So she must have learned how to pull her self up to a sitting position too! We haven't witnessed it yet but we do see her trying.

Bob and his Dad celebrated his dad's 60th birthday this weekend. They took a bus trip to Cooperstown to visit the Baseball Hall of Fame museum then traveled to NYC to watch the Orioles and Yankees play at the new Yankee Stadium. Based on the excitement I hear in Bob's voice as he tells me stories, I'd say they had a great time!

I'll have to post pictures later . . . . I'm on my lunch break!!!

Knoebels

We had a great time at Knoebels this weekend. It was our only real vacation this year. The girls left Tuesday to spend 3 days with the Beaghan Grandparents. Bob, Marlee and I arrived Friday and stayed until Sunday.

Smores! Funny story - the RV in the background belongs to our neighbors. No really . . . our neighbors from Wrightsville. Coincidentally, they ended up beside the Beaghan RV at Lake Glory Campground. We had no idea they were even going camping.

Summertime fun

Here are a few pictures of the kids from their summer vacation. Not too much going on now that Tee ball is over. Just finished 2 weeks of swimming lessons. The girls really did well this year. They can now swim with their face in the water. That is a BIG step from last year. Marlee will be 6 (SIX!!) Months old on the 24th. She's getting so big. She is still sooo smiley and giggly! Shes able to roll over from her back to her stomach. She's still not able to sit on her own yet, she tends to lean forward too far! She started rice cereal a few weeks back, and a few days ago, we started her on carrots. Her first spoon went in and the carrots came right back out! But she was curious and reached for the second spoonful. It went in and stayed in! I think she likes them now. However, the diaper changing has become a whole new experience now that she's on 'solids'. Pewww!! The girls also participated ina week long theatre camp. On the last day, they performed on stage for the parents (and grandparents!). They each had a few lines, that they memorized. They also sang and danced to a few songs from Pipen and Annie.

Birthday Pictures

Happy Birthday Rachel!

Our little girl turned 5!!

Rachel celebrated her 5th birthday yesterday and again today! She was so cute yesterday morning. She came down in the morning and showed us how her jammies were too small because she grew so much - - now that she's 5! Of course the jammies she was wearing were probably a size 3T and have been too small for about a year now!! She spent the day with her sisters and Gee Gee, then went to Jessica's Tee Ball practice where she got to play kickball - kids vs parents. It was quite fun! Her choice for her birthday dinner was fried chicken. We topped off the night with a cookie dough ice cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery. Mmmm, I love birthdays!!

The birthday celebration didn't stop there. The party was held today at Maize Quest. The kids had fun despite all the rain. They were drenched with sweat from head to toe!

Rachel received a bunch of nice gifts. . . mostly Littlest Pet Shop items! She also got pink legos, a High School Musical barbie, a Rescue Pet, and Daddy's favorite . . . a slip n slide! Just hope the rain stops soon, so they can try it out.

Marlee is getting big - she'll be 5 months old next week. She's such a good girl still. She likes to laugh and smile at everyone. She's also starting to hold herself in a sitting posting. She still needs some help, but she's almost strong enough to hold herself. Last week, we started giving her a few teaspoons of rice cereal. Jess and Rachel love to feed her. Marlee seems to enjoy it too! She just loves her big sisters!

Jessica is enjoying her summer vacation. She's keeping busy playing with the neighbors, reading and fighting with her sister and parents! Yes, she has developed quite the bad attitude. We're not sure why or where this attitude came from but we're doing our best to nip it early! I'll be sure to let you know how that goes!!

That's about all for now!

Trying out the new camera

We were testing out our new camera today. You'll have to let us know if the picture are any better than before!!

Jessica had a T-Ball game today. Our good friends, The Pasta's, trekked to York to watch the game with us. It was fun even though it was stinkin hot and Marlee was grumpy! I hope Kathleen wasn't too bored!

We took the kids to dinner at Chilis and then played for a bit at Camp Security playground. It was a great spot to test out our new Nikon D60. After months of researching and trying to decide on a camera, we finally picked this one!
